The Ministry of Health of Somalia has announced 211 new suspected cases of cholera, with 5 reported deaths, for epidemiological week 22 [31 May-6 Jun 2021]. All cases were reported from Banadir, Bay, and Lower Shabelle regions.
The cumulative total number of suspected cholera cases in 2021 is 2761, including 24 associated deaths with a case fatality ratio (CFR) of 0.9%. Of the total cases reported from Somalia since the first week of 2021, 60.3% (1666) were children under 5 years of age and
