In February 2021, routine sentinel surveillance for influenza-like illness in Cambodia detected a human avian influenza A(H9N2) virus infection. Investigations identified no recent H9N2 virus infections in 43 close contacts. One chicken sample from the infected child's house was positive for H9N2 virus and genetically similar to the human virus.

The affected area has been used many times with no history of anthrax and the veterinarian was very astute to pick up on the diagnosis prior to the lab results. The carcass was burned and buried before I even

Brazil has suspended beef exports to China after confirming 2 cases of "atypical" mad cow disease in 2 separate domestic meat plants.
The halt to beef export begins immediately, the agriculture ministry said in a statement on Saturday [4 Sep 2021], adding Beijing will decide when to begin importing again.
The temporary suspension was taken under an existing bilateral protocol between the 2 countries, although the ministry stressed there was "no risk to human or animal health."
