A woman has been placed in home isolation in Suva after having developed measles after arriving into the country from the Philippines on the 9th of this month [February 2020]. This is the 1st case of the disease since 6 Jan [2020], and the Ministry of Health says the patient's husband and son have also been placed on home isolation.
The 35-year-old was well during a health screening at Nadi Airport but developed symptoms of measles the day after her arrival [10 Feb 2020].

According to the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), on Friday, Feb. 21, the State Veterinarian's Office of the VDACS confirmed 1 horse tested positive for Equine Herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1).
The infected horse was at a boarding stable in Powhatan County. The boarding stable has been placed under quarantine.
They say no horse had left the property in at least 2 weeks.

It was also reported that the dog had bitten itself. The tested animal has been diagnosed rabies positive.

Minnesota health officials have confirmed an infant death related to pertussis, also known as whooping cough. The infant was diagnosed with pertussis in August 2019 and died in November [2019] after being hospitalized for 3 months. The last pediatric death related to pertussis in Minnesota was in 2013.
"We were extremely saddened to hear that this child passed away," Kristen Ehresmann, director of infectious disease at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), said in a news release.
