Japanese Encephalitis -- China
A woman in New Taipei has been diagnosed with Japanese encephalitis, the 5th case of the mosquito-borne disease confirmed in Taiwan so far this year [2017], the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said Thursday [22 Jun 2017].
The 56-year-old patient 1st sought medical attention at a local clinic on 11 Jun [2017], after she developed a fever and headache, and was hospitalized on 15 Jun [2017] with symptoms such as slurred speech and impaired movements, according to the CDC.
