Biosecurity NZ said today it was working with Potatoes NZ to respond to a detection of Potato mop-top virus (PMTV). "If wide-spread, [it] could cause some productivity issues." Potato tubers from 2 properties in the Canterbury region [South Island] had tested positive for the virus. Further sampling was under way in the region. This is the first time the virus has been found in New Zealand.
