Measles -- South Africa
As of 10 May 2017, 51 cases have been confirmed with additional suspect cases being tested. 15 cases were hospitalized. The age range is 0 to 49 years, and 47 cases were unvaccinated. 46 cases are from the Somali community, which has very low rates (less than 42 percent) of vaccination for MMR.
The source case is a 20 month-old unvaccinated Somali child who had rash onset on 30 Mar. This child had not traveled and the source of her infection is unknown. The other 50 cases had rash onsets
