Diphtheria -- Australia
A man has been flown from Cairns to Brisbane in a critical condition after testing positive to the diphtheria. The 27-year-old was flown to Prince Charles Hospital last night [Tue 23 Jan 2018], with Queensland Health confirming he was infected within Australia. The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service are contacting all people the man was in contact with in an effort to trace the infection and prevent its spread.
