Equine Herpes Virus -- United States
A horse that was stabled in Prince George's County showed severe neurological signs and was taken to an equine health center in Leesburg, Virginia on Sunday [2 Apr 2017], according to a statement from the Maryland Department of Agriculture.
The horse was euthanized, and a diagnosis of the non-neuropathogenic form of equine herpesvirus (EHV-1) was confirmed on Tuesday [4 Apr 2017] by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' Animal Health Lab in Warrenton,
