A beekeeper recently detected a destructive bee disease, American foulbrood or AFB in a bee hive in Kula, Maui, agricultural officials have confirmed.
Several hives on O'ahu and Hawai'i Island were also affected by AFB in February and October 2016, respectively.
With the recent findings, the Hawai'i Department of Agriculture is sending out an alert to Hawai'i beekeepers about the new cases.
