Mucormycosis -- United States
The federal investigation of how 4 transplant patients at UPMC [University of Pittsburgh Medical Center] hospitals contracted mold infections and then later died is ongoing. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC] has released a new report [see item 2 below] and the focus of the investigation was made abundantly clear. Investigators have yet to determine the source of the mold outbreak.
