About 5000 sheep contracted the bluetongue virus in Alentejo, with nearly 40 livestock holdings reporting suspicious cases in the districts of Beja and Évora, revealed today a source from the Ministry of Agriculture.
The same source explained to Lusa news agency that an investigation into this situation is "underway" and that the livestock farms that report suspicious cases are located in the municipalities of Serpa, Moura, Barrancos, Mértola, Beja, Portel, and Évora.
