American foulbrood, a disease caused by bacteria that infect bee larvae, was discovered in a hive in Volcano [Hawaii County] last week [week of 3 Apr 2017]. A case was reported on Maui in March [2017]. Last year [2016], there were 2 cases on Oahu and one reported in Waimea.
