West Nile Virus -- United States
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) reported that a 10-year-old quarterhorse gelding from Shasta County tested positive for West Nile virus [WNV] on 22 Sep 2016. The horse, whose vaccination status is unknown, was displaying neurological signs but is reportedly recovering, the CDFA said.
Thus far in 2016, 19 horses have tested positive for WNV in the following counties: Calaveras, Fresno (2 cases), Merced, Riverside, Sacramento (3 cases), San Diego, San Joaquin (6
