Abstract

A possible malaria control approach involves the dissemination in mosquitoes of inherited symbiotic microbes to block plasmodium transmission. However, in the _Anopheles gambiae_ complex, the primary African vectors of malaria, there are limited reports of inherited symbionts that impair transmission.
