Melioidosis -- India
The cause of the death of 2 children at Badiyadka here a few days ago is suspected to be melioidosis, an infectious disease caused by a gram-negative bacterium, _Burkholderia pseudomallei_, found in soil and water, according to an official press release here on Fri 26 Jul 2019.
An 8-month-old child and a 4-and-a-half-year-old boy, siblings, died on 23 and 24 Jul 2019, respectively, after they had been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru following fever.
