Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever -- Turkey
The Health Ministry announced on Mon 31 May 2021 that Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), a zoonotic virus, had claimed 13 lives across the country amid the coronavirus pandemic so far this year [2021]. The ministry noted that the fatality rate from the tickborne disease had noticeably dropped to 3.28% last year [2020], from 5.64% in 2018.
The ministry's figures, quoted by Anadolu Agency (AA), show 243 cases reported this year [2021] across the country.
