The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) reports more than 2000 songbirds have died in the state from 20 Dec 2020 through 8 Mar 2021 -- and the culprit is sitting in people's backyards. The agency determined the birds are contracting salmonellosis, a disease cause by salmonella bacteria, by sharing bird feeders with other infected avian species.
