Eastern Equine Encephalitis -- United States
An Ocean County gelding is the 4th reported case of eastern equine encephalitis (EEE), a serious, mosquito-borne illnesses in horses, in New Jersey for 2018.
The horse had not been vaccinated against EEE in 2018. The Ocean County horse was euthanized on 4 Sep 2018. The other 3 EEE cases in 2018, all euthanized, were in Monmouth and Camden counties.
