We have a rattlesnake in Michigan called the eastern massasauga. It's listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. One of the threats it's facing is a disease called snake fungal disease, and it can kill the snakes.
Dr. Matt Allender is a veterinarian, and an assistant professor at the University of Illinois. He also directs the Wildlife Epidemiology Lab.
