Eastern Equine Encephalitis -- United States
Another case of eastern equine encephalitis [EEE] has been reported, this time in Carteret County.
Carteret County Department of Human Services said in a press release that an 8-year-old mare was euthanized after contracting EEE. At least 3 other cases have been discovered in eastern North Carolina: 2 horses in Onslow County and a donkey in Duplin County. No human cases have been identified in the state this year [2018].
