Meningitis - Neisseria -- Nigeria
Since our last report on May 22 [2017], nearly 2 weeks ago, Nigerian health officials have reported an additional 468 meningococcal meningitis cases, including 44 deaths.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), from the beginning of the outbreak on [13 Dec 2016] to [2 Jun 2017], a total of 14 473 suspected cases and 1155 deaths (CFR [case fatality rate] of 8 percent) of meningitis have been reported from 25 States.
