PRO/AH/EDR> Avian influenza (49): Ireland (CO, TY) HPAI H5N8, resident wild birds

Avian Influenza H5N8 -- Ireland
A total of 2 more cases of avian influenza confirmed on [Fri 10 Feb 2017] have brought the total number of cases in the Republic of Ireland to 8. The H5N8 strain of avian influenza has been confirmed in a grey heron in Middleton, Co Cork, and in a mute swan in Lough Eorna, Co Tipperary.
Both birds were found dead on [Fri 3 Feb 2017] and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) confirmed the presence of H5N8 in both cases on [Fri 10 Feb 2017].
This is the 8th case of bird
