Cassava mosaic disease (CMD) is a major constraint to cassava (_Manihot esculenta_) production in Africa. CMD-associated begomoviruses group either in the _African cassava mosaic virus_ (ACMV) or _East African cassava mosaic virus_ (EACMV) clusters.
