More than 20 per cent of whooping cough (pertussis) cases are occurring in the Waikato region, prompting doctors to urge parents to vaccinate their children against the preventable disease. New figures also show cases have doubled compared with this time in 2015, with specialists saying the country is due for another whooping cough outbreak.
