Health officials in the Sunshine State [Florida] reported on the 3rd confirmed or probable Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) case of 2016 in Duval County. The confirmed case is from Jacksonville; no other information is available. In 2015, Duval County did not report any CJD cases.
This follows recent reports of 2 CJD cases in Hillsborough County in January and March [2016].
Statewide in 2015, 21 confirmed and 8 probable CJD cases were reported in the state from 20 counties.

Two outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza have been reported in Eastern and Western areas of southern Ghana.
Ghana reported its most recent previous outbreak in early February [2016].

Canadian researchers have discovered an intestinal parasite known as _Cryptosporidium_ for the 1st time in a remote community in the Arctic.
The potentially dangerous parasite was found in Nunavik, in Quebec's far north.

The health ministry is to conduct a free yellow fever vaccination campaign for all people at risk in [Uganda's] Masaka and Rukungiri, districts where the disease has been confirmed.

An extra 5 South Australians have tested positive for salmonellosis after eating contaminated bean sprouts, bringing the total number of victims to 244.
